Mr. Canup has worked as an attorney in the litigation department of Barnes Walker, Goethe, Hoonhout, Perron & Shea since April 2017. He practices in the areas of general civil litigation, collections, first-party insurance claims, trust and estate litigation, and homeowners’ and condominium associations. Mr. Canup's experience includes over ten (10) years of practice in State courts and State and Federal administrative forums, as well as mediations. Mr. Canup is a member in good standing of the Florida Bar.

Mr. Canup is a 1996 graduate of Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Canup received his undergraduate degree in English (magna cum laude) from the University of North Florida in 2000, his Master’s degree in English from Florida State University in 2004, and his Juris Doctorate degree (cum laude) from Stetson University College of Law in 2006. Mr. Canup was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2006.

In 2006, Mr. Canup joined a boutique elder law firm in Jacksonville, Florida, concentrating on estate planning, probate and guardianship matters. In 2009, Mr. Canup began working as a civilian attorney for the U.S. Department of the Navy (DoN), serving in Yokosuka, Japan and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. As a DoN attorney, Mr. Canup advised military officers and civilian personnel regarding government contracts, civilian personnel law, fiscal law, and ethics. In 2012, Mr. Canup returned to private practice, joining a Tampa Bay area insurance defense law firm, where he litigated claims for loss due to sinkhole, storm, hail, water, and fire.

In, 2013, Mr. Canup moved to Bradenton, Florida with his wife Danielle, a Bradenton native, and their two children Alaina and Beau. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family, surfing, fishing, gardening and reading. Jeff serves on the Board of Directors of the Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus & Orchestra, and he has volunteered at the Palma Sola Botanical Park in Bradenton.
